Musings
Why is it that when you transport something by car it is called a shipment but when you transport something by ship it is called cargo?

SUPER BOWL LXVI
Its going to be a year of many firsts for me. One of the firsts I had yesterday was the Super Bowl. Its the annual championship match of the National Football League in the US of A. The game is more like rugby than football, the only time saw a ball being kicked with a foot is when some one was scoring... so don't picture football/soccer as you know it.
Anyway, its a big evening out here, nice food(read: the best of junk), beer, snacks and what have you. The best part of the game though was the ads. Boy, did companies go all out or what. The dogs made my day: the cat-killer Doritos one, the dog with the running shoes, the lazy dog are the ones I remember. Vehicle companies had some nice ones to: Toyota, 2012 apocalypse, the vampire party was wierd but creative I have to give them. Coca cola killed it like always, I hope they get to play the polar bear ones in Kenya... hmmm I think they won't, it would look out of place. I could go on and on
I can only count one to ten when it comes to Roman numerals, it took a few more seconds to figure out LXVI is 46.

New York New York
New York is my latest city to visit, and I absolutely love it. It is an orderly version of Nairobi City and 100 times bigger. It is very user-friendly for a new comer; the streets and the roads are clearly marked, it is so easy to navigate through it armed with just a map.
This is my fourth week and I have been to several places already. I have been to Central park. It’s huge and beautiful, with pavements and spaces for people to walk, play, sit, or exercise, skate and much more! I love the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis reservoir with its lonesome fountain, Bethesda Terrace, The Pond. There are so many sculptures; the oddest was an obelisk from Egypt. I still have not seen this entire public park. I plan to go there again, in spring, summer and fall coz I’m told the trees ‘come to life’ in spring, there are lots of fun activities in the summer, and during fall, the trees change color... I want to see these transformations.
I have been to Time Square, I finally felt like I was in the Big Apple, as it is referred to. It’s a portion of a street or two with massive billboards on any available wall space on the several blocks of buildings alongside the street. It’s a landmark, and complete utter chaos. Think Luthuli Avenue in Nairobi and multiply that by five.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMX1sc3eOTE&feature=related this is my current favorite song. Only I can feel it even more.

Spot the new look
The diastema (mwanya) is back....
If you had one chance to change something in your body, what would you change? I would fix my teeth - you know whiten them a little, and fix me a gap between my two front teeth!! I have wanted that for as long as I have known an aunt of mine. There is something about a front gap that is so appealing to me
So I was surprised to learn that it is the new look!! Yep. At the castings for New York Fashion Week, models with gapped smiles have an edge over models with what everyone has known as the traditional perfect smile for ages. Well, its about time the rest of the world caught up, because on this side of the globe, a gap between the front teeth has always been a sign of beauty.

The beautiful game (part two)
And the affair that was the 2010 FIFA World Cup is over. I don’t know how your last month has been, for me, every match was one beautiful date (the ones on the weekends anyway).
I must say, I’m growing some love for the game :) , I have learnt some rules (what a nice place to start) and that’s about it. I don’t know so much about the teams of the world and the players to look out for, but that’s alright. By the time the next world cup rolls by, I will be fan numero uno ;). Speaking of which, the final match was such an anticlimax for me…
For y’all whose teams lost, don’t worry "We didn't lose the game; we just ran out of time."
Adios
