New York New York

New York is my latest city to visit, and I absolutely love it. It is an orderly version of Nairobi City and 100 times bigger. It is very user-friendly for a new comer; the streets and the roads are clearly marked, it is so easy to navigate through it armed with just a map.

This is my fourth week and I have been to several places already. I have been to Central park. It’s huge and beautiful, with pavements and spaces for people to walk, play, sit, or exercise, skate and much more! I love the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis reservoir with its lonesome fountain, Bethesda Terrace, The Pond. There are so many sculptures; the oddest was an obelisk from Egypt. I still have not seen this entire public park. I plan to go there again, in spring, summer and fall coz I’m told the trees ‘come to life’ in spring, there are lots of fun activities in the summer, and during fall, the trees change color... I want to see these transformations.

I have been to Time Square, I finally felt like I was in the Big Apple, as it is referred to. It’s a portion of a street or two with massive billboards on any available wall space on the several blocks of buildings alongside the street. It’s a landmark, and complete utter chaos. Think Luthuli Avenue in Nairobi and multiply that by five.
